The Friends are an independent charity set up as a local network of supporters for Milton Cottage Trust CIO, which runs the Cottage and Museum. Friends’ subscriptions provide funds for the ongoing operation and maintenance of the Cottage and museum. Some of the Friends’ fund-raising initiatives provide money for additional purposes such as refurbishing the building, or expanding the collection.

By joining the Friends, you will be helping with the ongoing operation and maintenance costs of Milton’s Cottage as well as its collection and garden. In return, you will be invited to attend special events and receive free entrance to the museum. Additionally, you will be kept up to date with developments via the Milton Messenger newsletter.

The next Friends’ event is the 12th Annual Milton Lecture, which will take place in the magnificent setting of Mercer’ Hall in the City of London on 21st February 2023, from 6pm.  You can also join us online.

This year’s Guest Lecturer is Dr Margarette Lincoln, Research Fellow at the University of London and Curator Emeritus at the National Maritime Museum.  She will be speaking on the fascinating subject of Milton’s London, charting the incendiary impact of religious, political and financial events on the ever-growing citizenry of 17th century London.

All proceeds will support Milton’s Cottage – Milton’s only surviving residence.  Please note that booking is essential, via the Eventbrite link below, and for those who wish to attend in person you must book by 14th February 2023 at the latest.
