2008 - Events of the Quatercentenary

Cambridge Events

Lady Margaret Lectures - a series of five lectures will be presented in the calendar year 2008

JANUARY 15th - JULY University Library Exhibition - open to the public

JUNE Production of Comus - three dates in Mayweek (Thursday 19th-Saturday 21st June) with Gala performances in Hall on Sunday 22nd and Tuesday 24th June.

OCTOBER 23rd A reading of Paradise Lost on Bishop Usher's Date of Creation.

DECEMBER 6th: Concert, Music of Milton's time and Readings, Cambridge University

DECEMBER 7th: Handel's Oratorio. Trinity College Chapel, Cambridge

Chalfont St Giles Events

FEBRUARY  28th: Coach Trip to the Bodleian departing Chalfont St Giles at 10am (£15 for the coach)

APRIL 5th: Coach trip to Samson performed at Eton College (£12 for the coach, £15 or £18 seats)  to depart Chalfont St Giles at 6pm. Details 01494 875 439

MAY 12th-18th:  Literary Festival featuring Milton 

MAY 17th:  Friends' Dinner.  Join us to drink a toast to John Milton.  Music, poetry featuring Lance Pierson*:  £32 per head. Ring 01494-723-693 for details and availability. 

DECEMBER 7th:  Service in the Parish Church, Chalfont St Giles

London Events

JULY 7th - 11th: 9th International Milton Symposium, Milton and London.  For information contact           ies@sas.ac.uk or for the Planning Committee contact M.Dzelzainis@rhul.ac.uk

JULY 8th: St Giles Cripplegate, Performance of Handel's Samson with Poems on the Underground and Apollo Chamber Orchestra.  Tickets £15 (£12 concessions)

SEPTEMBER:   St Giles Cripplegate concert and readings.

NOVEMBER 24th: Proposed joint event between the Friends and Poet in the City (tba)

DECEMBER 10th: Guildhall. Lecture and Reception to Mark the 400th Anniversary of the birth of John Milton.

Oxford Events

DECEMBER 8th (2007) to 26th APRIL. Exhibition on Citizen Milton at the Bodleian Library.

   Lance Pierson Performs Milton

               Lance Pierson is performing Milton at the Literary Festival Dinner in Chalfont St Giles on 17th May.  See him       performing John Milton Pre-eminence Lost at the following events:
